The Esdaile Trust was set up in 1969 following the closure of Esdaile School and was endowed by the amalgamation of the various funds which supported the school.
Esdaile Trust provides grants to assist in the education of daughters of the Church of Scotland, of Deaconesses of the Church of Scotland or widows and of Missionaries appointed or nominated by the Overseas Council of the Church of Scotland. Daughters should normally be between 12 and 25 years of age. Preference is given to families with a low income.
£17,000 is available for distribution during the year. Last year 31 grants were made ranging from £230 to £1,730.
To apply, complete and return the application form and send to Fiona Watson, Clerk and Treasurer, Scott-Moncrieff, Exchange Place 3, Semple Street, Edinburgh EH3 8BL. Applications should be submitted by no later than 31 May each year and grants are distributed by early September.
The Esdaile Trust co-operates with the Society for the Benefit of Sons and Daughters of Ministers of the Church of Scotland and the Glasgow Society of the Sons and Daughters of Ministers of the Church of Scotland in the distribution of grants for the benefit of students.
