GP trainees that have sat their professional exams in the past couple of years might be able to claim significant tax relief on their exam fees.
If you’ve sat the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) or Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) in the past couple of years you might be able to claim significant tax relief on these costs. In addition to exam fees, you can also claim tax relief in relation to annual professional subscription fees paid to recognised bodies, such as the General Medical Council (GMC), British Medical Association (BMA), Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS) or Medical Defence Union (MDU) and Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
Claims can be backdated up to four years, so make sure you dig out those old bank statements and receipts!
