Scottish Building Federation Edinburgh and District Charitable Trust

Formerly the Edinburgh and District Master Builders' Charitable Trust

The Trust is long established by Trust Deed and was reconstituted in December 1999 with a change of name in October 2007. 

The Trust's objectives are to:

  • Provide financial support to persons in reduced circumstances who have been involved with the building trade in the Lothians with particular emphasis on owners and senior employees of companies.
  • Advance education by giving scholarships to students in local universities and colleges (Heriot-Watt University, Napier University, West Lothian College, Edinburgh's Telford College and Jewel & Esk Valley College) who are involved in skills relating to the building industry. 
  • Provide prizes and awards to the above organisations to encourage skills relating to the building trade.

The Trust invites applications from:

  • Persons in reduced circumstances should write to the Secretaries & Treasurers explaining the circumstances.

Representatives of the Trust liaise with the five local universities and colleges who arrange applications and interviews. Up to £10,000 per annum is available for one or more scholarships to deserving students.

Grants are also given to university and college students in need.

The application form should be completed and forwarded to the appropriate department of the university or college.
