Commercial and charity audit

If you’re looking for a varied introduction to the world of business, you couldn’t do much better than to join Scott-Moncrieff’s commercial and charity audit team. The range of clients you’ll get to work with is truly impressive and includes manufacturing firms, investment managers, charities ranging from tiny local operations to national household names, schools, technology companies and many more. You’ll work in all sorts of places as well – from luxurious offices in Edinburgh’s New Town to sprawling country estates in Blair Atholl and Bute. With most jobs lasting only a week or two, there’s not much chance of getting bored of the same old commute to work. Many of our graduates have certainly seen a lot more of Scotland than they had before they started!

You’ll normally be working as part of a small team, taking responsibility for a number of different areas of a client’s accounts. Before long you’ll have worked on every part of our clients’ activities – the first few months are a great crash course in gaining a really broad understanding of how many different types of organisation operate. While you’ll be out in the field straight away, you won’t be alone. Throughout the early stages of your time with us, you’ll be working closely with colleagues who’ve recently been in your shoes and are always happy to provide advice and guidance (as well as helping you every step of the way as you study for your professional qualifications). As you progress you’ll work more independently, and within a couple of years you’ll be leading teams of your own.

There are a number of ways you can look to progress once you’ve settled in. You might find that you prefer working with specific organisations and want to specialise in one type of client or industry. There are also opportunities to work in Scott-Moncrieff’s other departments, such as tax, corporate finance or our business advisory group. For those that would like some extra responsibility, you could be in line for an internal promotion soon after completing your training, while others may take on high-flying posts in industry. Whatever your future plans, a graduate position in commercial and charity audit could be a great first step towards a successful career.
