I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
After training with Touche Ross in London, I qualified with Coopers & Lybrand in Edinburgh in 1980 and have been in practice since 1982, eight years of which were as a partner in a national firm, now BDO. I am a general practitioner with specialist experience in trust management and tax.
My interests outside the office include spending time with my family, sailing, music, exploration, politics, tennis and rugby. I am also a trustee of two charities and a High Constable of Leith.
